Are you aware of the heating and energy efficiency grants available on the Government led ECO 3 Scheme? If not, then
hopefully we can give you a little information to help you better understand what the scheme is about and all that it has to offer.

First Time Central Heating

The ECO3 First Time Central Heating Scheme helps homeowners, landlords and tenants across the UK with the installation of central heating in their homes and properties that have never had central heating before.

Properties that qualify for the scheme include homes heated using electric boilers, inefficient electric storage heaters, electric room heaters and fan heaters, LPG heaters from bottles and tanks, fossil fuel fires and wood and Biomass heaters. All are ideal for a free first-time central heating installation.

All property types can be funded via the ECO 3 scheme. However, if you live in have a small, terraced house that is already energy efficient then a contribution might be required that can be discussed with the surveyor. Unfortunately, if your property is heated by a Mains Gas boiler, Oil boiler or Warm Air Blow system or has any radiators that have heated water in them then your property is not eligible for a First Time Central Heating grant.

Insulation Measures

There are many simple yet effective ways to insulate your home, which can significantly reduce heat loss while lowering your heating bills.

  • With inadequate or no underfloor insulation, your home will be experiencing 15% heat loss
  • Insulating your loft can keep your home warmer by up to 25%.
  • Solid Wall insulation can dramatically lessen the amount of warmth escaping from your home.

Boiler Upgrades

We will happily replace your inefficient boiler at affordable prices with an “A” Rated boiler, which will automatically increase the energy efficiency rating of your home.

Combi Boiler

A combination boiler or combi boiler combines the utility of a high-efficiency water heater and the functionality of a central heating system into one compact unit. Combi boilers also don’t need separate hot water cylinders, which means they take up significantly less space compared to a system and regular boilers. In addition, most combi boilers have an energy efficiency rating of 90%, and they are by far the UK’s most popular boiler type.

System Boiler

Larger homes usually have increased occupancy which in turn leads to significantly more water consumption. This poses a problem for most combi boiler models because they have trouble heating more than one tap at a time. Due to this, system boilers are a better fit for high occupancy homes.
